Pradhan Mantri jan Aushadhi Yojana

 

‘Jan Aushadhi’ is a campaign launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in association with Central Pharma Public Sector Undertakings, to provide quality medicines at affordable prices to the masses. Jan Aushadhi stores have been set up to provide generic drugs, which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs.

Who can open JAMS This is divided into three categories:

Category 1: Individuals Entrepreneurs/Unemployed Pharmacists/Doctors/Registered Medical Practitoner

Category 2: NGO Hospitals/Charitable Institutions/Private Hospitals/Trust/Societies/Self help Group.

Category 3: State Government Nominated Agencies

Apart from these, unemployed pharmacists, individual entrepreneurs, doctors, registered medical practitioners, NGO, charitable institutions/hospitals, private hospitals, trusts, societies, self help groups etc. will get credit facility of up to 30 days from the date of dispatch of medicines. No credit will be provided to category 2 entities. Infect, they will have to make advance payment for each order.

Eligibility

1. For State Government Nominated Agencies, the operating agency must be identified by respective state government and provide free space within hospital premises. For NGO Hospitals/Charitable Institutions/Private Hospitals/Trust/Societies/Self help Group, the entity must possess prior experience of not less than 03 years of successful operation in welfare activities. Such activities must be duly evidenced by audited accounts for the last three years. Individual entrepreneurs must be financially sound to run the store efficiently. Bank Statements for the last 03 years or sanction letter from Bank for extending loan as evidence are also required.

2. B. Pharma and D. Pharma Degree is mandatory for individual applicants.

 3. Minimum space required to open store is 120 square feet.

 4. Sound knowledge of operating computers and proof of securing a pharmacist.

 5. There must be a refrigerator and sufficient furniture in the proposed premises to keep and store the medicine at required temperature, chair/ stool, table and counter, etc.

 6. Air-conditioned premises will be preferred, though this condition is not mandatory.

 7. Applicant must possess a valid VAT registration number.

 8. Prospective shop manager must possess qualification of Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) or Degree in Pharmacy (B. Pharm.).

 9. Sufficient staff.

 10. At least two display board (both vertical and horizontal) displaying the language, logo, design & the colour combination of BPPI.

11. Computer, Printer, Internet and Telephone connection to load we based software. Minimum configuration of computer should be Pentium IV/Dual Core Processor, 1 GB RAM (2 GB preferable), 80GB HDD, TVSE MSP 240/250 series 80 column Dot matrix printer (Recommended) and 500 VA UPS while minimum software requirements are Windows XP/ Vista /Windows 7 (32 bit)/Windows 8 Operating System – Windows 7 (32 bit) and Anti-virus software Internet connection – 512kbps. Please note that these are minimum requirements. Concerned authority may ask for higher/latest specifications.

 12. Applicant must possess drug license and other statutory requirements/ permissions required for running a drug store. Sale Tax/VAT numbers from the competent authority is also required.
